The Family and Friends Claret is a refined Bordeaux blend of Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon from the Balgownie, Blanche Barkley and Redbank plantings (all dating back to the early ‘70s) with Merlot and Malbec from the wonderful Glenhope Vineyard.
 
Deep, dark garnet in the glass, the Merlot and Malbec offer dark berry fruit and violet aromatics, while the old vine material confers incredible depth and complexity, with graphite, terracotta and wild herb complexity. Amazingly structured (again thanks to the old vine material), with rich and pliant tannins, bolstered by a mass of deep, dark cassis and black cherry fruit.
 
A wine we look forward to following the development of over the years, and a wonderful mid-way point to the single vineyard Old Vine wines to come later in the year from the incredible 2024 vintage.
